MINUTES: Motion by Whitewater, supported by Springfield to approve the July 16 Minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORTS: Dave Milliron gave the reports. General fund Money Market balance is $218,566.82. Cost Controls in balance. Line item #742.000 Physical Exams/Safety equipment is overdrawn. More new members are having exams. There is a new Line Item #934.004 for Hose testing, and a new Line Item in the Grant Fund #997.007 for Lucas CPR units (Grand Traverse Band). There is a Budget Amendment for Approval.
Public Improvement Fund balance is $1,390.80.
Grant Fund balance is $5.01.
Motion by Springfield, supported by Long Lake to approve the Financial Reports as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
Budget Amendment for the General Fund shows increase in #742.000 Physical Exams by $5,000.00, and #934.004 Hose Testing by $7,000.00 – Total Increase $12,000.00.
Decrease Line item # 860.000 by $5,000.00 and decrease #956.006 by $7,000.00 – Total Decrease $12,000.00. Increase Revenues in Grant Fund #669.002 by $28,563.02 (GT Band).
Increase Expenditures New Line item #997.007 by $28,563.02. Grant Fund Increase in Revenue is $28,563.02 (transfer). Motion by Green Lake, supported by Fife Lake to approve the Budget Amendment as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
Rural Board Minutes 8/20/14
The Regular meeting was stopped for a Closed Session. 6:24 p.m.
Motion by Karen Rosa – Long Lake, Seconded by Linda Forwerck- Fife Lake, to immediately enter into a closed session to consider a written, attorney-client communication regarding the FLSA pursuant to MCL 15.268(h) and MCL 15.243(1)(g).

PRE-AUTHORIZED CLAIMS: Motion by Long Lake, supported by Fife Lake to approve of the Pre-Authorized Claims in the amount of $5,388.16. All ayes. Motion carried.
OPEN INVOICES: Motion by Springfield, supported by Fife Lake to pay the Open Invoices in the amount of $31,455.73. All ayes. Motion carried.
PAYROLL APPROVAL: 7/3- $7,669.01, 7/17- $7,517.97, 7/31- $7,098.90. Motion by Green Lake, supported by Fife Lake to approve the payrolls as presented.

CHIEF WEBER: (See Activity Report) Chief Weber reported Tanker #4 was in an accident when another driver pulled out in front of it. Our driver did a good job trying to prevent a fatality.
The insurance company is working on it. We will not have to replace the Tanker.
He continues to process new members – now at 70, goal is 75.
Mask Fit testing is finished.
The first annual Rural picnic was a success.
Chief Weber has been training fire fighters about FireHouse reporting.
Chief Weber reported he sent fire fighters to a SCBA tech school. They now have 3 technicians who can do repair work on SCBA’s.
Chief Weber reported he attended the Grand Traverse Band Reception where they awarded Grants. Rural received $28,000 for two Lucas CPR machines which will go to Station #2, and Station #10.
Chief Weber reported he was accepted to a 10 day Michigan State Police Arson School.
RTC: (See attached Meeting Minutes and Budget) Chief Weber reported they increased membership fees by $100.00. They will restructure price of classes. Chief Weber said Rural
Will have 15 students enrolled in school this fall.
Rural Board Minutes 8/20/14
ATTORNEY: Jim Young referred to Act 57. He said they could create Articles that “limit the amount of levy to basic services”. The voters won’t be subjected to what you pay for basic services. If you want additional services with additional taxes it will be up to the Townships
Attorney Young complimented the presentation done in closed session. He also stated it was a pleasure to work with Chief Weber, the process was done quickly and efficiently.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: FLSA finished.
NEW BUSINESS: Correspondence from Julie Dunham notifying the Rural Board of her retirement on December 31st. Chairman Trudell asked Julie if she was okay with training a new hire (Yes). Chief Weber stated he and Julie have been working on a job description (and a job posting) he will bring them to the Board at the September meeting.
Grand Traverse Band Grant. Chief Weber attended a Reception/ceremony for the distribution of Grants. Chief Weber stated it was an interesting ceremony. He was awarded a $28,000 Grant on behalf of the Rural Fire Board.
PUBLIC INPUT: Forwerck-Fife Lake reported Fife Lake Township and Station #6/EMS crew took a tour of two businesses in Fife Lake – Hayes Manufacturing and Cintas.
Bill Tomlinson – Green Lake Township stated “as a citizen, to encourage you to continue looking at Act 57, it’s the wave of the future.”
